Info for Land Owners/Agencies

Overview
Invasive species don’t abide by property boundaries or political jurisdiction.  Controlling invasive plants requires effective cooperation among many types of land mangers including: federal, state, & local government, land trusts, and private landowners.  FHWP is committed to working with these diverse groups.

We are soliciting forest landowners (public and private) who want to be considered for free invasive inventory, management recommendations, and invasive control on their properties.  Participating landowners will be part of a larger landscape-level effort to manage invasive species.

Interested Landowners
Priority landowenrs for inventory include:

-Any Landowners with Early Detection/Rapid Response species.  If you have seen any of these species , please contact us ASAP.

-Forest Landowners in the priority western region of the state.  Landowners in Exeter, West Greenwich, Coventry, and Chariho are encouraged to contact us.

How it Works
Please contact James Barnes (jbarnes at rinhs dot org) with information regarding your property (address, size, known invasives, and other relevant information).  FHWP may be able to visit your property and provide invasive inventory and management recommendations.  For some landowners, this could result in invasive removal by contracted labor through the FHWP.   This entire process is free to the landowner.

Additional Resources
For those landowners & agencies that FHWP is not able to work with during this project, but who are interested in hiring invasive control contractors, RINHS strongly suggests seeking qualified companies.  Visit here for more info.  Additionally, FHWP is working with partner agencies to potentially provide future funding in invasive inventory and control for landowners who we cannot support this year.
